OUR HISTORY & EXPERIENCE


After passing his High School i.e. class X Tula Ram Sharma had to discontinue his Education and thus assist his father in the farming work but this too couldn’t the Financial position of the family.

He then worked as building and construction worker under a contractor in 1972 at the age of eighteen and thus started his career as building and construction worker, in 1975, he worked on contract basis for two months laying stones on the railway tracks for the railway contractor.

He then worked as compounder at Dr. R.C. Goyal’s clinic in Agra for ten months. He then worked as Sales Man for M/S Modern Machinery Store, Dhuliyaganj, Agra from 1976 to 1981. It is during this period in 1978 that he become a member of the India Trade Union Congress (INTUC)/ Agriculture worker union.

With this inspirational aim of service to mankind is service to god. He worked labouriously with honesty, dedication and sincerity and seeing his active patriotism and functioning’s Miss Saraswati Ambal- General Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Mazdoor Congress, appointed him the General Secretary for the district of Agra. He worked with honesty and devotion day and night for the upliftment, organisation and welfare of poor unorganized rural labour of this state and seeing his efficiency and capabilities of handling the unorganised rural labourers successfully.

He was appointed as the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Rashtriya Gramin Mazdoor Congress. He was then appointed the General Secretary of Agra District Youth Congress from 1984 to 1988 and it is during this period in 1986 that he came in close contact with Yuva Samrat Rajiv Gandhi who was deeply moved with joy by the noble work being carried out actively by Mr.

Tula Ram Sharma. He was directed by Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, then Prime Minister of India to continue with his noble aims and objectives of organizing and developing the poor unorganised rural workers of this state. With the blessing received by Yuva Samrat he continued with his activities more labouriously and with enthusiastic patriotism and was appointed the General Secretary of Agra District Congress (I) Committee from 1988 to 1992. During this period, he has held prestigious posts of members, consultative committee of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Agra and the General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Kissan and Khet Mazdoor Congress.

He travelled far- flung backward areas of this province and found mostly that the people living in these visited regions were leading miserable life. Suddenly a thought struck his mind of establishing and setting up of a Trade Union for the upliftment, Welfare and Development of the unorganised Rural Labours of this province who could assist and help them in achieving their rights and thus benefit through the welfare schemes and programmes of the Government of Uttar Pradesh/ India and thus improve their financial status and lead a respectable and dignified life.

The task of forming a trade union was not that easy as it requires a strong financial back and his financial background being weak and frail made the task more tedious and difficult but with his noble aim of service to mankind is service to God and with patriotic love for his countrymen eventually succeeded in forming an organisation known as the Uttar Pradesh Gramin Kissan Mazdoor Sangthan (UPGKMS) on 10.02.1993 which was later registered under the Indian Trade Union Act in the year 1995 and is the founder/ president of this non political organisation.

Later the word Kissan meaning farmer was removed and this trade union was renamed as Uttar Pradesh Gramin Mazdoor Sangthan (UPGMS) not only covering the Kissan but the entire organised rural sector/ unorganised sectors of building and construction, brick kiln, weaving, brush making, pottery, glass, quarry etc. as well as other backward classes. In his experience he has received skilled training as Rural Labour Organized and Rural Leadership through Trade Union Education Programmes which are listed here forth he underwent two months training as rural labour trainer and organizing conducted by the central Labour, Education Board Ministry of Labour, Government of India at Agra from January 31, 1981 to March 30, 1981.

He then acquired Rural Leadership Development Training jointly conducted by the International Federation of Plantation, Agriculture and Allied worker ( IFPAAW), Indian National Rural Labour Federation (INRLF) and the labour Organization of the Rural Poor (LORP) from august 12, 1984 to October at Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

He then received skillful training in leadership Development for Rural Trade Union Worker/ Organizer Organized by V.V Giri National Labour Institute held at New Delhi from May 28, 1985 to June 02,1985. He has also participated in Rural Labour Leadership organized by the Indian Rural Labour Federation from June 20,1987 to June 30, 1987 held at Shimla Himachal Pradesh and is skillfully trained in Rural Labour Leadership.

Later on he underwent skillful training in leadership Development for Rural Trade Union /union worker organized by V.V Giri National Labour Institute, New Delhi from January 15, 1990 to January 15, 1990 to 20, 1990 and is specialized in independently handling trade union. After the formation of this organization in 1995, his aim of organizing and developing the unorganized rural laborers of this province become a reality for him. Since 1995 the activities conducted under his excellent leadership are listed below.
